October-15-'09 Update

  • Oct. 15th, 2009 at 12:13 AM

A long time with no update as usual.

I am dreadful about updates.

Well, my show is over and done with now but November should be a busy month for other shows though I won't be personally attending 2 out of 3.

WindyCon, PhilCon and TAKII are all on the list of to-do's.

As for now it's time to do some attending to all the things that have gone neglected in preparing for my show so it will, regrettably, be some time before I have any new works done.

That is about all the updating for now.

Philcon

  • Nov. 17th, 2008 at 3:11 PM

I finally have all seven works for PhilCon finished!
http://2008.philcon.org  November 21-23, 2008 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Cherry Hill NJ.

They all have a border of faux painted dark green marble with all the colors I used in the creatures them selves worked into the greens and some metallics blended into the mix as well.

I'll be adding more soon but I still have a few deadlines for this month that I need to focus on and I still have to finish my husbands and I's Halloween costumes and we have a lot to do this month.

We both have ZenkaiKon http://www.zenkaikon.com/ on the 15th and 16th then the Horrorpops concert on the 20th and Dining with the Dead on the 23rd at Laural Hill Cemetery which is a catered dinner in this huge beautiful 1800's graveyard http://www.thelaurelhillcemetery.org and then on the 31st is Elvira's Haunted Halloween Bash.

Well back to work for me!

Sep. 25th, 2008

  • 2:44 PM

I finally have 2 scans of what I've been working on this past month or so. There are 2 more finished that I will need photos of, they're too large to scan. Also I will be opening a CafePress account soon with shirts and prints.

New Site!

  • Aug. 18th, 2008 at 11:13 PM

I finally have my website up and running, http://morgancrone.com

I'll still use this site for more frequent updates and for some of the work I will omit from the website, like a lot of my little pin-ups.

At the site you will be able to buy 8x10 prints at $5.00 a piece and order commission work.

I've also been working on pieces for some upcoming conventions, so that's been taking up a lot of time, but I'm finally back to working on my creatures for it so I'm enjoying it.

New Works

  • Jul. 1st, 2008 at 5:47 PM

I have 2 new works done and hope to be starting back to doing my creatures soon.

And

Finished!

  • Jun. 4th, 2008 at 2:33 AM

I finally have all the silly little Anime-ish pin-ups finished!

I've gotten another commission to do before starting another project.

Also, my husband just bought a new computer and got it set up this week, only problem is that my old scanner isn't compatible with Vista so I am still using the old computer that runs XP that the scanner works with for scanning and transferring the scans over to the new computer with a USB he just got me.

New work!

  • May. 13th, 2008 at 1:50 AM

I’m finally able to start coloring all the line work I did for the TAKII convention I was unable to finish work for or even attend before the wedding tidal wave caught up with me. I Just got all but 2 of the Thank You’s sent out this weekend and I’ve gotten 5 of 35 done so far. Even though I wasn’t able to have them at the convention I stated them for I still want to finish them so I can move on, I still have 2 15x22’s I want to get done then after all of that I’ll probably take a bit of a break from artwork and go back to my silly little vampire novels I do so love to obsess over from time to time.

Wedding Ceremony and Vows

  • Apr. 28th, 2008 at 1:09 PM

This was our ceremony and vows.
Note: The ring barer  was my little 4lb
Pomeranian complete with tux and pillow.

Welcome, those who are gathered here today,

the dearest family and closest friends of Charles and Morgan.

We are here this hour to witness and rejoice with them as they declare their love and their promise to one another.

True love is an unintentional, unspoken, and unbreakable promise to another, which with all the strength it carries one day finds its own voice, a voice that rings clearer and truer then any other ever uttered before.

A promise, the greatest anyone can make, carried now not only in their hearts, but spoken from the lips for all to hear.

It is a promise no other can ever equal, it is a promise of a lifetime and infinitely more.

These two have opened their hearts to one another, and today share their vows of marriage and in doing so, opening their hearts to us as well, inviting us to witness and share in this precious moment.

To this day they bring the whole of their being to share with one another.

Their’s is a marriage entered into lovingly and understandingly, without hesitation and without fear, with respect for one another in both togetherness and as individuals, and with the anticipation of their future together. With whatever joys or sorrows, or trials or triumphs it may yield standing side by side as one they now enter the unknown confidently and unwaveringly with the strength of their love and of each other.

What greater thing is there in this world than two separate and individual halves joining together as one to strengthen each other as a whole in all things, to support each other through all sorrows, and to share with each other in all pleasures and delights of the world?

~Charles takes rings from the ring barer, gives his bride his ring and keeps hers to say his vows and exchange rings~

The circle is a perfect figure, without beginning, without end, with no single weakness.

It is a symbol of the Cycle of Life, of birth, of death, and of rebirth.

These rings shall serve as a physical reminder of your vows made on this day.

The wedding ring is a traditional symbol of lasting commitment and enduring love, a universal _expression of that which is without beginning and without end.  May these rings always remind you that your love is never ending. May these rings symbolize the love that is in their hearts today.

Charles’ vows:

“Before I met you, I had no intention of ever getting married and I never thought I could love someone as much as I love you now.  I have known you only a short while but in that time, I feel I have come to know you better then I have known anyone.  I have been happier the past year I have known you, more then the quarter century before it and I know my days with you will be the happiest days of my life.  I want to protect and provide for you and promise to love and respect you. No matter how long we live I know it will never be long enough to share all of my feelings for you but I promise to try. Will you take me as your husband and best friend for the rest of our days?”

Morgan’s vows:

“All my life, I was afraid of ever allowing myself to love any man, of giving my heart to them and with it the means to shatter and destroy every part of me. Even as a girl, I never believed in or fantasized about fairytales, Prince Charmings, or one day finding a one true love. I never wanted, never dared to dream the wonderful dream come true that you are to me.  You are my first love, my only love, my true love. This day I willingly, openly, and gladly give you my heart, my love, and all that I am to have and to keep always and to eternally be yours. Trusting completely and knowing absolutely that you will not shatter or destroy me in anyway, that your love and your friendship will only strengthen me in all that I am and all that I do.  I ask you now, though in my heart already knowing of your answer. Will you take my heart, my love, and all that I am to be your friend in need, your love in life, and your wife in marriage until the end of your time, the end of all time and for evermore?”

Charles and Morgan are going to light their unity candle as a symbol of their marriage. The candles from which they light it represent each of them in the whole of their being. They come into their marriage as individuals and they will never lose their identity.

Therefore, three candles remain lighted, one for each of them and one for a symbol of their promise to each other and to an everlasting love

Above you below you, and forever surrounding you shall be the pledge you make unto each other today. It is the pledge of the truth and purity of your every breath. The constant friendship of your hearts. The passion and fire of your spirits and the deepest love your souls have to give. It is the pledge of all that is within you. The only true pledge that one heart can offer to another."

~Morgan and Charles take lit candle in hand~

Charles:

“All flames eventually die but our love shall never be extinguished.

We will fuel it with caring, understanding, and compassion for one another for all of our days and beyond.”

Morgan:

“Let the pains and fears of the past die with this flame as on a pyre as it burns as bright and as strong as our love and our friendship shall blaze everlastingly”

You are now Husband and Wife offering yourselves, and all that has come to pass unto each other, towards the creation of your future, and to all that is yet to come.

May this day shine forever eternally in their lives. May it add brilliance to every achievement and cast a comforting and encouraging light over any misfortune.  And may your love never be blotted out by the common nor obscured by the ordinary in life.

These two lives are now joined in one unbroken circle.  Wherever they go, may they always return to each other in their togetherness

Please seal your wedding ceremony with your first kiss as husband and wife

Finally Married

  • Apr. 23rd, 2008 at 4:52 PM

Well, the wedding’s over.

I got everything I wanted to do done and everything went fine other then the best man was late and 3 of my guests.

I ended up not getting a photo of the cake, things were just too hectic and I forgot.

And the one taking care of the reception neglected to tell me that the only main dish and side I wanted got cut from the menu until I went up to the buffet and asked for them, so I ended up mostly just having deserts.

Now I just have to do all the Thank You’s and the 3 photo albums for the family so hopefully I can get that done next week then work on finishing the batch of Manga pin-up girls I was doing for TAKII. Oh, and about that, I ended up not doing that, I knew I’d not be able to do decent quality coloring and get them done on time.

I had planed on doing that back when we were only going to have 8 people at the wedding and go out to eat instead of a reception. Then even when we had gone up to 25 at the wedding and 50 at the reception I still had time but I spent nearly a full week of 10-12 hour days looking for the simplest things like a bra, a slip, a pair of ivory shoes I didn’t really care the style, just that they were ivory and not sandals or boots, rosettes to tie up the favors were all on clearance at all the craft stores and Wal-Mart except for white or pink, doilies were only in white or tan crocheted string for crafts and only 8 inches big, I functionally need a minimum of 14 inches for the stems of the bouquets, yes, I made the bride’s maids and my bouquets.

I won’t even mention the horrors of the surprise bridal shower his mom and aunt threw, ghastly that.

At least we got out of the bachelor/bachelorette parties.

I’ll be posting the photos from the wedding, the vows and ceremony, and the invite front design soon.

On a side note, I did take his name but I will still continue to use Morgan Crone for all things art related.

So many things

  • Feb. 28th, 2008 at 1:38 AM

Well now, where shall I start.

First of all, April 5-6 I’ll have an artist’s table at TAKII in Philadelphia.
http://takii.pdnmz.com
Which is lovely because I haven’t anything done for it and it’s the weekend before my wedding, and the wedding is the weekend before my birthday.
Where did April go, I was sure it was here somewhere.

Also, the dress debacle hadn’t quite come to an end as I had thought it had.
After it had been ordered and confirmed, my fiancé’s mother had yet to be charged for the order. After looking up the site again, we had tried calling the number to find it was out of service. My fiancé’s mother looked up the listed maker of the dress, which turned out to not be the correct one. They told her who the maker probably was. So, while on the phone with his mother we searched for the site of the company Eternal Love, not a terribly easy search considering their items were listed on so many sites, but of course, none of which were the dress. I found their main site and found a dress similar to the other ones, same style different fabric. Now, we find out they only sell wholesale. Lovely!
His mom called them up, and some how persuaded them to sell her one, she is an Italian mother after all, an Italian mother on a mission for her son’s wedding none the less.
Right, well that’s a juggernaut, now isn’t it.
So, the dress should be here by the end of next week.
http://www.eternallove.com/prod_images/5086_ivory_collage_WWW.jpg

And again the rings are http://www.mythmedievalceltic.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=32&products_id=262
After I found the site, these were probably the easiest part of the whole thing.
Wonderful customer service and a lovely selection of sterling and pewter jewelry, and pewter statues, not to mention good prices.

Now, for Puppy’s outfit.
(“Puppy” is my fiancé, I am Bunny he is Puppy. Leave it at that.)
<insert sarcasm here>
That was nearly as much fun as the dress.
<end sarcasm>
We wanted something to go with the dress, 19th century-ish.
Started with looking for Regency coats, which are now referred to as “Pirate coats” or “Captain’s coats” Thank you pirate movies, where apparently only Pirates wore gentlemen’s attire.
Anyway.
They were all way out of the price range, didn’t fit (on ebay) or were far too ornate to be accepted by certain members of the family, and there are quite a few certain members.
So, on to the search for the good old “frock coat” again, all the same problems as the Regency coat search with the exception of the pirate thing.
Then went looking at a tux place, all horrible. Back to Googling and ebaying.
Still nothing. Tried one more time, this time just searched “men’s black coat”
A lovely bit of luck struck and something popped up.

It was under “Goth Fetish Wear” (duh, of course, Goth fetish was so huge in the19th century)
It was a long frock coat that was the right size with 2 hours left on the bidding.
The Puppy was in bed, woke him up to come and have a look.
He placed the bid and won it by morning.
It also came with the shirt, kilt, and neck tie foof , all for as much as it would have been to find a rent-a-tux. $75.00 + $12.99 SH

 http://pics.livejournal.com/morgan_crone/pic/00023rcp

So, he’ll be wearing that with a high-necked shirt and black dress slacks.

The kilt’s for latter.

Finally decided of the flowers, I want to have cream white tea roses with ivy leaves and little bits of ivory lace and pearls.

We have to go look at the chapel this Saturday but the reception, with nearly 50 people, is booked for April 19th already, so, not really much choice really.

Now, we have to find somewhere to make the cake

And, this all started out being a simple little thing only 8 family members.

In Other News...

  • Feb. 22nd, 2008 at 3:59 AM

I’ll be getting married in late March or early April as it seems, to http://dendem01.livejournal.com
So I’ve been having to find a dress, an outfit for my now fiancé, rings, and all that lovely frivol, just starting really.
The rings took a bit to find, none were very nice or just insane prices, like $1,000+ each. No. Did find one through posting on one of the Yahoo art groups that’s mainly for conventions and information, but I figured that if anyone knew of anything different, they would. Pretty much set on this one http://www.mythmedievalceltic.com/store/product_info.php?products_id=262
And I did finally find a dress tonight.
I had found one I loved on the 3rd site I tried but they only had 3X or XS available because it was being clearanced http://www.pyramidcollection.com/itemdy00.asp?c=a&T1=P9077+XS&GEN1=All+Apparel&SKW=+apparel&PageNo=19#zoom

So I had to go through googling wedding sites, not even wanting a ‘wedding gown’ I just wanted something pretty, simple, and Victorian. Only ones that I liked (2 of them) were $800.00 and $1,200.00 I did manage to find the same dress I had originally liked on another site for about $60.00 more http://www.decorbyfdp.com/content-product_info/products_id-7146/pc_p9077_la_belle_amour_dress_x.html but didn’t know my size I always fall between two sizes and since it was fitted I hade to make sure, so my fiancé’s mother (who was nice enough to offer to take care of my dress) e-mailed the site with my measurements asking which one I would fit best, they replied today, which it has been since the 14th I started looking and found them, saying that they just didn’t update their site and the dress is no longer manufactured.
This when they listed that all sizes from XS-3X were available.
So I finally found something very close to it by Jeanie Nitro at Leatherworks.com
http://www.leatherworks.com/belladonna_dress.htm
That was ordered tonight and got the order confirmation, so that’s settled.

Now for the fiancé.
I’ve found a few things but a bit pricy, more then the dresses I was looking at
More searching for that tomorrow.

So much for that then.

  • Feb. 22nd, 2008 at 3:43 AM

It ended up taking me much longer to do the last work then I had wanted.

I finished the horse-creature in one night and the background took two, the woman about one but the mane, foot feathering, and hair are still not done, neither are all the other little details.

I had just had in it my mind for so long that it was stale before it hit the paper, everything felt forced and so old that I rushed it with the feeling “Why isn’t this thing finished yet?”

I may try the idea again but for now it’s better for me and the work to just leave it.

I have two others in mind now, a set.

I just finished sketching the layout, if I have time tomorrow I’ll transfer one of them and start working on it. Something a bit different then my usual, or more so going back to a way of doing things a while ago black ink outlines with the background almost like a frame for the figure.

I’ve not gotten much done in the way of work this passed week, I guess the last time I worked on anything was Wed the 13th. I’ve been feeling crappy and just busy when I am actually doing anything. I’ve been doing online searching mostly.

Been driving me mad, well madder really.

New Work in Progress

  • Feb. 6th, 2008 at 5:50 PM

I’ve finally started on my next work, started sketching it Monday  of and on and got it transferred to it’s 19x24 Bristol board today, tightened up the detail then inked it slightly.
